Finally, Manfreds is ready to reopen the doors. We fulfilled the skeptics’ negative expectations and exceeded the planned opening by a couple of weeks. Hence, September 20 at 5.30 pm we opened Manfreds in a new refreshed version. Manfreds has grown and so has our wine selection. Furthermore, we have extended the number of seats and the kitchen has grown as well. But what’s most important, we have created more room for our love child, the wine.

The new surroundings allow us to expand the opening hours and serve you throughout the day. Lunch, afternoon and late evening. Whether if you wish to have a glass of wine and a quick lunch, have your food and wine to-go or maybe just grab a simple dish, it is possible.

We open the kitchen for lunch at 12 am and close at 10 pm Tuesday to Sunday. Saturdays and Sundays we are also open for brunch at 10 am, so everybody can get their “pig” or eggs Benedict. Meanwhile, Manfreds will be open as a wine store, selling wine at retail price.

The wine is relaxed, organic, biodynamic, non-sulphurated, unfiltered, demystified, uncomplicated and most importantly, absolutely fantastic! Anders F. S. Hansen, who up until now has been sommelier at Relæ, has – together with us – started a wine import; Hvirvelvin.dk. He will also be the brain behind the wine selection at the new Manfreds & Vin, as his passion about natural wine is uncompromising. We will run the risk and call Manfreds & Vin the first 100% natural wine bar in Copenhagen. Additionally, we can guarantee that you won’t find a bottle at our shelves, which we do not have a special relationship to and will love to serve for our guests.

The vegetables will still be the most important element at the menu, which will be more focused on the wine-drinking people. Henceforward, we will aim at inspiring our guests to share a number of small dishes, ranging from dkk 35 to 85. Loads of vegetables, great taste and a lot to chose from. Though you can still get the dish of the day for dkk 125. So you can still drop by on your way home from work and get your dinner – either in the restaurant or to take away (dkk 100,-).

Our philosophy, which is shared by Relæ, is to turn down the volume of meat, increase the amount of vegetables and deliver the best possible value for money. The larger kitchen gives us the possibility to deliver the same philosophy for catering for any occasion, which, unfortunately, we had to turn down before the renovation of Manfreds.

The increased space has also given us a small area, where we can host wine-tastings, lunch parties, private parties etc. In collaboration with others we have already arranged tastings, a tacky Beaujolais-noveau event and the launch of the Danish oysters-season. Besides, we are about to plan the showing of a gastronomic documentary film in connection with CPH:DOX. All this will be further specified later. You can keep yourself updated at Manfreds.dk
